The Nursing Practice Specialist is expected to perform duties in alignment with the mission and policies of the organization. The qualified candidate will provide support and direction for patient management and standards for quality patient care and will be a perioperative clinical resource and role-model.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performing duties in support of and in compliance with the performance improvement plan, TJC and other licensing, accrediting and regulatory agencies
Maintaining current knowledge of SCIP, HOP, AORN and AAMI standards.
Plans, directs, manages/conducts, and evaluates educational activities in Surgical Services areas, and programs which include general nursing mandatory education and nursing orientation.
Updates department and hospital-wide policies and procedures to reflect current nursing practice guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
CA RN, BLS (AHA) certificate required
Minimum of five (5) years operating room experience
Education level necessary to obtain required licensure and certifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work with employees from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Able to work with staff and public under a variety of circumstances
Work at a fast pace in an active work environment.
Basic Microsoft capabilities
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Preferred Skills:
Three (3) years of experience in education and staff development preferred
CNOR, CCRN or CPAN Preferred.
Bachelors degree in nursing or related field preferred.
Previous experience in educational program development and implementation preferred
