The Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) provides support to a team of cancer genetic counselors for Cancer Risk Assessment (CCRA). The CCRA identifies families that may have a hereditary cancer syndrome and provides genetic testing, screening and support. Responsibilities of the GCA include clinical, research and administrative duties. Individuals in this position will gain first-hand knowledge of patient care related to the field of cancer genetics.

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

• Bachelor's - Biologic/Genetics / Health Sciences (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2 years clinical experience in health care or genetics specialty preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills. Experience with Electronic Medical Records, database and spreadsheet software programs.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, department administrative staff, interdepartmental contacts and the public.
• Ability to plan and organize the workflow in a busy office/unit environment and be self-directed and work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to be flexible in response to changing demands.
• Ability to handle a high volume of work under pressure.
• Resourceful in problem solving, initiative and good judgment.
