Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant Medical Office Rep at Dignity Health Medical Foundation clinics, now part of CommonSpirit Health, you’ll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team. You’ll take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts- ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site.

Some of your daily activities will include:

  • Assisting in preparing patients for examinations or procedures, assisting with procedures, relaying instructions from the physician to a patient or authorized person, and collecting patient data
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician and performing accurate vital sign measurements and documentation. 
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment, and performing patient care services that support the physician / provider's practice under the clinical supervision of the Physician, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician’s Assistant, or Licensed Vocational Nurse. 
  • Comfortable managing medical records- charts and EMR
  • Communicate and document any patient concerns to physicians, physician’s assistants, or nurses
  • Work with physicians, insurance providers, and pharmacies to obtain authorizations for patient medication, including refills

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
  • High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
  • Satisfactory completion of formal MedicalAssistant program pursuant to the Divisionof Allied Health Professions or militarytraining that is equivalent to an accreditedMedical Assistant program (determinationby DHMF HR department in conjunctionwith the State Division of Allied Health)., upon hire and
  • Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)


Preferred

  • less than 1 year 6 months experience in an outpatientsetting as a Medical Assistant., upon hire and
  • less than 1 year 6 monthsexperience in an outpatient setting as aMedical Office Receptionist or anequivalent amount of experience in a highvolume customer service role in anotherindustry/environment working withreferrals or scheduling surgeries., upon hire and
  • Experience in billing. , upon hire and
  • Prior call centerexperience preferred., upon hire and
  • Experience with multi-line phones/ACDphones preferred., upon hire and
  • Prior call centerexperience preferred., upon hire
