Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a PBX Operator, you will be responsible for all operations related to the hospital's Communications and Security Systems.

Daily, you will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values, supporting our hospital's strategic plan and quality improvement initiatives. You will manage calls, operate the switchboard, respond to emergencies, and monitor security systems, ensuring seamless and secure communication.

  • Receptionist Job Functions



    1. Greets callers and visitors to the facility, appropriately determines their needs and refer to the correct area of the facility as needed.


    2. Effectively communicates provisions of Marian Regional Medical Center visitor policy to patients and visitors.


    3. Verifies patient status and location of care within Marian Regional Medical Center and issues daily visitation wrist bands to all visitors and provides them direction to patient’s room.


    4. Is knowledgeable of all emergency and security procedures and facilitates a safe and comfortable reception area for visitors, patients and staff.


    5. Reports any unusual conditions to Security, and pays attention to detail in relaying oral and written information.


  • PBX Job Functions



    1. Operates the telecommunications answering service. Answers incoming calls and manages outgoing telephone lines efficiently and expediently.


    2. Proficiently creates positive telephone communications by answering promptly with proper identification, asks questions for clarification and transferring calls accurately and promptly.


    3. Promotes customer relations by offering assistance when apparent needs exist, acknowledging patients / customers promptly, calling customers by their proper name, and responding courteously and respectfully to questions.


    4. Uses overhead-paging system appropriately and clearly.


    5. Monitors and responds to specific alarms as noted by procedures.


    6. Monitors and responds to specific alarms as noted by procedures.


    7. Manages and maintains appropriate equipment and databases as necessary and reports promptly to Supervisor.


    8. Remains calm and professional through each code. Is able to locate and follow established system processes for code handling and processing.


    9. Monitors PBX based alarms and panels as appropriate.


    10. Knows who to contact for troubleshooting all equipment and / or processes.


Job Requirements

Required
  • None, upon hire

Preferred
  • One year receptionist experience and
  • Receptionist experience preferably in ahealth care setting.
