Franciscan Medical Group, part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is currently seeking a full time Clinic RN-Cardio for our Franciscan Heart and Vascular Associates in Tacoma, WA. This position is full time with no weekends, nights or organizationally recognized holidays required.

 

As our Cardiac Nurse, you’ll care for patients who may have life-threatening cardiac events or conditions while helping their families navigate daily care and the long-term plan for healing and maintenance outside of the hospital.

You’ll never have the same day twice as your patients’ needs evolve. That’s why you must be adaptable and detail-oriented, observing vitals and reporting the warning signs early to our multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, EKG techs, and other cardiovascular professionals.

  • Provides technical, clinical and related services in the areas of Cardiology and Electrophysiology (EP) relative to Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED); performs interrogations of implanted cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators and loop recorders in an ambulatory setting, or through remote transmission review, in accordance with established clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Performs interrogation, evaluation, and reprogramming of all manufacturers’ models of cardiac rhythm management devices; triages phone calls and completes programming orders according to established protocols; performs in-office device checks, applying considerable knowledge of device reprogramming steps per established protocols.
  • Sets up, operates, and troubleshoot various CIED programmers and deciphers complex cardiac device data elements; provides Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD), Pacemaker (PM), Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator (CRTD), Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy-Pacemaker (CRTP) checks in-clinic and via remote follow-up.
  • Manages device data in all available applications and patient medical records; communicates all findings to include indications found during testing; training and educating patients on all aspects of the proper use of transmitting devices; troubleshoots patient compliance issues; schedules appointments for pacemaker monitoring and facilitates appropriate in-office follow up.
  • Performs clinical review and interpretation of in-office or transmitted data and informs EP/Cardiology providers of any urgent device issues; identifies opportunities for process improvements as well as positive problem resolutions.
  • Examines post-implant wound site and performs associated patient care, including suture removal for post-procedure and implanted device patients.

Required

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and two years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities., upon hire and
  • Registered Nurse: WA, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and


Preferred

  • Bachelors Of Science Nursing and Work experience in med/surg, telemetry and/or a cardiology-related field, preferred
  • Certified Heart Failure Nurse, preferred
