Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in determining patient diagnoses and treatment by expertly performing blood collection and specimen processing, ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Every day you will expertly obtain and process blood specimens via capillary or venipuncture, ensuring integrity, proper disposal, and timely distribution to testing areas with special instructions, all while performing clerical duties and prioritizing patient comfort.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the precise clinical skills for blood collection and specimen handling, coupled with a genuine passion for helping others. You will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and a special talent for making patients feel comfortable during blood work, while adhering to lab collection turnaround times.

  • Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures on all age groups as appropriate according to departmental standards in a timely manner
  • Performs proper patient identification and labeling of all draws according to departmental standards
  • Obtains correct specimens for tests according to departmental standards
  • Responds to STAT, ASAP, Timed and special lab requests (Rapid Response, Trauma, etc...) per departmental standards
  • Performs clerical duties including answering the phones, assisting hospital staff within the lab and greeting customers in a polite and professional manner at all times
  • Receives and processes samples according to departmental standards

Job Requirements

Required

  • One year recent work experience as a Phlebotomist 
  • may consider candidates with less experience if no qualified applicants apply
  • Phlebotomist: CA
  • Basic Life Support  (BLS) through an American Heart Association provider
