Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, assists in general maintenance and in the installation, maintenance and repairs of normal and essential electrical systems for the hospital and associated properties.

 

As an Electrician, you will be a central figure responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of critical electrical systems and equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant power distribution throughout our facilities. You will play a vital role in supporting our infrastructure, preventing disruptions, and upholding safety standards.

 

Every day, you will expertly diagnose electrical malfunctions, meticulously install and troubleshoot wiring, circuits, and components, and perform preventive maintenance on diverse electrical systems, from basic outlets to complex machinery. You will also interpret blueprints and schematics, adhere strictly to electrical codes and safety regulations, and collaborate with other trades and departments to ensure efficient and safe operation of all electrical assets.

 

To be successful in this role, you will combine a valid Electrician's license, extensive experience in commercial or industrial electrical systems, and a profound understanding of electrical theory, codes, and safety procedures. You will demonstrate exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills, a meticulous attention to detail in all tasks, and thrive in a dynamic, hands-on environment dedicated to maintaining a safe and fully functional electrical infrastructure.

  • Completes assigned work orders and/or PMs in a timely manner or informs supervisor of any problems accomplishing a task.
  • Tasks include but are not limited to -  repairs, install, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances, power distribution panels, starters, motor control panels, circuit breakers,  transfer switches, emergency generator systems, nurse call systems, pneumatic tube system, transformers, motors, etc.
  • Immediately identifies and informs supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment.
  • Achieves to reduce maintenance and utility costs through improved operational procedures.
  • Helps to maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
  • Maintains a professional attitude toward patients, visitors and staff at all times.
  • Varies work schedule or shift to meet the department staffing needs.
  • Works overtime only with approval or when requested by Supervisor.
  • Schedules all vacation and personal holidays with prior supervisory approval.

Job Requirements

Required Education & Experience:

  • High School Graduate or GED

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • At least 3 years commercial or industrial electrical experience
  • At least 1 year of practical experience in an accredited hospital facilities department
  • Vocational School Grad
