Job Summary and Responsibilities

The registered nurse is responsible to take primary responsibility to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care of each assigned patient. Provide direct patient care. Supervise the activities of nursing staff members. Anticipate patients needs. Follow-up on all care related activities and assure all physician orders are accurately transcribed and carried out in a timely manner. Coordinate the plan of care. Conduct patient teaching specific to disease entity and home management. Actively participate in assuring care continuum. Collaborate with other nursing and ancillary services to assure seamless communication and uninterrupted patient care. Model leadership behaviors. Foster a spirit of collaboration and teamwork. Mentor peers and colleagues.

  • Maintains current knowledge of all patient safety standards and National Patient Safety goals and consistently incorporates into nursing practice.
  • Able to safely administer medications and blood/blood products using the 7 (seven) rights of medication and blood administration. Uses 2 (two) separate hospital approved identifiers to safely identify the patient prior to medication / blood administration.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic work environment at all times and identifies and addresses problems to the appropriate departments
  • Adheres to principles of infection control, including medical and surgical asepsis and isolation techniques. Demonstrates aseptic technique while conducting sterile dressing changes, urinary catheterizations, and other similar duties.
  • Receive, interpret and implement physician orders in a safe and timely manner. Uses hospital approved process for telephone and / or verbal orders that include a readback of all orders.
  • Perform patient assessment/reassessment, including giving or receiving comprehensive change of shift and intermittent report, obtaining the nursing history, conducting a physical assessment, establishing priorities for care.

Job Requirements

Required

  • 1 year of Medical Surgical experience
  • Registered Nurse: CA (RN:CA)
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Preferred

  • Bachelors Of Science in Nursing
