Location: Valley View Clinic - Council Bluffs, IA

 

The Medical Assistant/Certfied Medical Assistant (NOT Med Aide / CNA) in the Diabetes Education Clinic plays a vital role in supporting the efficient operation of the clinic and providing administrative and clinical assistance to the Diabetes Educators and other healthcare professionals. This position is crucial for creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients living with diabetes, ensuring smooth patient flow, and facilitating effective diabetes education and management.

Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients.

  • Performs general patient care following established clinic workflows.
  • Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider by obtaining and recording vital signs, reviewing drug allergies and current medications, completing applicable screening questionnaires and documenting reason for visit.
  • Collects and prepares ordered specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepares and provides ordered medications and/or vaccines to patients.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
  • Ensures patient exam rooms are stocked, clean, and orderly.

**Please note - CHI Health REQUIRES that Certified Medical Assistants/Medical Assistants MUST be a graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP)

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of medical assisting program accredited by Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP), upon hire and
  • Programs accredited by other credentialed bodies may be considered if program included formal externship
  • Medication Aide: NE, within 90 Days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required upon hire
