As an Emergency Room Tech, you will support safe, cost-efficient patient care in the Emergency Department, performing delegated functions from the RN or Physician.
Every day you will conduct selected diagnostics and procedures, assist with patient transport and lifting, and provide general clerical and cleaning support to the unit.
To be successful in this role you will effectively execute delegated tasks, support unit operations, and contribute to a safe and efficient environment.
Assists in implementing plan of care by performing common clinical procedures and tasks within scope of practice.
Demonstrates competency in the delivery of care and clinical techniques, including (but not limited to):
◦Basic Airway Management
CPR
◦ Vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, oral and rectal temperature, Respirations, and pulse oximetry
◦ Electrocardiogram
◦ Point of care testing
Wound care including suture set-up
◦ Assisting with eye and ear irrigation
◦ Orthopedic splinting
◦ Visual acuity
◦ Suture/staple removal
◦ Assisting with gastric lavage
◦ Assisting with activities of daily living
◦ Peak flow
◦ Breath alcohol
◦ Assists with removal of peripheral IV and urinary catheters
◦ Conducts clinical activities requiring a Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy certification, such as blood glucose checks and phlebotomy.
◦ Decontamination/Washdown with Level C Bio-Haz Suit and powered respirator
