Job Summary and Responsibilities

Franciscan Medical Group, part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, is currently seeking a full time Vascular Technologist for our Franciscan Vascular Associates in Tacoma, WA. This position is in a busy and fast paced office. Full time Vascular Tech in our very busy and fast paced department. We have a team based environment in a growing vascular service line which includes 26 techs and 5 vascular
variable surgeons, 1 vascular medicine doctor, 1 ARNP. No weekends or organizationally recognized holidays required! 

 

As a Vascular Technologist, you will perform non-invasive vascular diagnostic examinations to assess blood flow and detect abnormalities in arteries and veins.

Every day you will prepare patients, operate specialized ultrasound equipment to capture and evaluate high-quality images, and precisely document findings for physician interpretation.

To be successful, you will demonstrate expert technical proficiency in vascular ultrasound, a comprehensive understanding of vascular anatomy and pathology, and strong analytical and communication skills for accurate diagnostic information.

  • Prepares patient/operates ultrasound equipment and employs techniques/procedures to ensure results are consistent and capture the correct detail of a requested area, per physicians’ direction and in adherence to department protocols.
  • Questions patients and/or reviews patient charts for facts of patient history which are pertinent to interpretation of ultrasound examinations by the interpreting physician; obtains a brief medical history through interview and review of the patient’s chart; explains testing procedures, allays concerns and elicits patient cooperation.
  • Ensures examination equipment is maintained and functioning appropriately before the onset of an examination; calibrates, cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning; recognizes and reports the malfunctioning of equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Utilizes equipment/accessories determines and sets technical factors (control settings); determines correct techniques to obtain images of the highest quality and resolution.
  • Applies gel to the skin of the target area and manipulates an ultrasound probe (transducer) to obtain images of the blood vessels and to assess blood flow; selects and photographs appropriate ultrasonic images for review and interpretation of a physician; ensures that emergent exam results are relayed promptly to the appropriate physician or medical floor.
  • Delivers patient care for all age groups while performing vascular examinations.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Completion of a training program accredited by the American Medical Association – Committee on Allied Health Education (AMA-CAHEA) for vascular ultrasound, upon hire and
  • Registered Vascular Technologist, within 12 - months of hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) - CPR


Preferred

  • One year of post-graduate experience in vascular ultrasound and/or demonstrated high degree of proficiency, knowledge, and acuity in the field of diagnostics or ultrasound
