Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.

Every day you will apply your keen assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations.

  • Integrates patient diagnostic data, response to therapy, and the physiologic profile to create a plan of care that is sound and consistent with the department’s standard of care or the department’s procedures and protocols
  • CPAP and in house transport of the ventilated patient
  • Performs thorough cardiopulmonary clinical assessments with the appropriate inclusion of other body systems including cardiovascular, nutritional, neurologic, etc.
  • Documents information and appropriately assigns triage scores, GCS scores, RT Evaluation and treatment scores and communicates this in an SBAR format to other health care providers
  • Performs pulmonary mechanics on all eligible ventilated patients on a daily basis
  • Collects appropriate data and presents patient information at ventilator weaning rounds.
  • Discusses treatment options i.e., ventilator care plan as it pertains to the patient and communicates this plan to physician and/or appropriate members of the patient care team
  • Collects specimens, performs basic procedures and assists in complex diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopies and bedside pulmonary function tests

Required

  • Associates Other from an advanced level education program with current
  • California State provisional license and 6 months working clinical experience as a student RCP, upon hire and
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: CA, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire and
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist, upon hire and
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist, within 6 - months and
  • Neonatal-Pediatric Specialty Respiratory Therapist, within 24 - months
  • EEG Competency within 12 - months

  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English and possess critical thinking skills

Preferred

  • 1 year clinical experience in an acute care hospital, upon hire
