Job Summary and Responsibilities

In keeping with the Dignity Health healthcare philosophy, the Ultrasound Technologist performs cardiovascular procedures at a technically proficient level. Positions and instructs the patient, operates ultrasound equipment and determines the technical factors for ultrasound procedures. Ensures correct marking/labeling of images, provide and confirm proper/adequate documentation of procedures to assist in diagnosis.  Technically proficient in a variety of ultrasound procedures.  Ability to train staff members to perform procedures requiring independent judgement.  Position requires ingenuity and initiative for the diagnosis and therapy of disease.

 

Job Duties: 

 

  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound procedures in accordance with department standards, and in keeping with the orders of the referring physician.
  • Operates all ultrasound equipment, computers, and accessories.
  • Demonstrates competency in film-processing procedures.
  • Identifies and initiates accurate assessment of life-threatening conditions.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and cooperates with service personnel in order to maintain minimal down time. Initiates service calls on all equipment assigned to the area.
  • Charges exams and supplies on a daily basis when work is completed. Maintains and updates the patient log on a daily basis.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree AND/OR Graduate of an accredited school of cardiovascular technology
    Experience: 4-6 years (Three (3) years recent experience preferred performing Cardiovascular Ultrasound procedures.)
    OR
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree AND/OR Graduate of an accredited school of cardiovascular technology
    Experience: 4-6 years (Three (3) years recent Acute Care experience performing Cardiovascular Ultrasound procedures.)


Licensure and Certifications

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI (RCS) OR Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Adult Echo (RDCSAE)
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) OR Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
