Saint Joseph East also includes the Women's Hospital at Saint Joseph East which is dedicated to supporting the well-being of women in Central and Eastern Kentucky and serves a 16-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Infusion Nurse, you will administer intravenous (IV) therapies and medications, ensuring safe and effective patient care delivery.

Every day you will assess needs, manage infusion devices, meticulously prepare and administer medications, educate patients, and monitor for complications.

To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional clinical assessment, precise technical proficiency, compassionate communication, and adherence to sterile and safety protocols.

  • Assumes responsibility for acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for patient care in the oncology setting.
  • Provides direct nursing care for specified patients, including appropriate supportive care and administration of chemotherapy, blood components, fluid and electrolyte replacements, and other oncology treatments as prescribed in compliance with current policies and procedures.
  • Performs nursing assessments and triage of patient care needs for new and ongoing patients determining the need for standard, urgent or emergent interventions.
  • Utilizes oncology nurse driven protocols to manage cancer related side effects.
  • Evaluates progress towards attainment of desired patient outcomes.
  • Implements and/or modifies plan of care using assessment data, standards of care and evidence based practice inclusive of nursing care coordination, appropriate patient and family education related to the disease and treatment.

  • Other Graduate of an accredited school or nursing, upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: KY, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
  • Cancer Chemotherapy Provider, within 90 Days
