Job Summary and Responsibilities

Oversees compliance and work flow in Heart Institute Non-Invasive Services. Collaborates with staff to obtain and document pre-authorizations, compliant medical diagnoses by ongoing review of orders and patient schedules. Responsibilities include but are not limited to quality improvement activities related to regulatory and coding requirements, review of documentation and reports, review and revision of work flows, processes, and polices as appropriate. Collaborates with Imaging Coordinator, Department Manager and Medical Director as appropriate. Serves as Vein Intervention Program Coordinator. Schedules patients for vein information, provides patient instructions for vein procedures, and maintains records and documentation required for Vein Center Accreditation.

  • Reviews schedules and procedure orders, cross references with medical record documentation to assure medical compliance and accuracy.
  • Serves as a coding and documentation resource for all department staff.
  • Reviews processes and work flow as appropriate to capture compliant documentation.
  • Coordinates acquisition of pre-authorizations for patients in any status other than in-patient. Performs after hour authorizations as appropriate. Acquires pre-authorizations as applicable for designated providers.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement program, documents activities that facilitate accuracy in documentation and maximizes reimbursement for procedures.
  • Assesses and proposes changes to department work flow and processes to capture required components of documentation including compliant diagnosis, pre-authorization, and medical necessity documentation.
