Nurse Pract Cardiothoracic - Clinic

The Chattanooga Heart Institute offers the most comprehensive cardiac care available in this region. Founded in 1976, we now have six offices in Tennessee and one in Georgia. Our practice is made up of 29 board-certified cardiologists and three cardiothoracic surgeons. We merged with CHI Memorial Health Care System in 2011 which is part of CommonSpirit Health. Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for utilizing training and skills to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician in a clinic setting.  This position is Monday - Thursday, no nights, no weekends, no calls.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Manage patients in a collaboration with the cardiothoracic surgeons, providing specialty care to patients with acute and chronic problems in a clinic setting.
• Collect data pertinent to the patients' status.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and promotes a positive work environment.
• Perform physical exams (within established protocol.)
• Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines).
• Order diagnostic tests.
• prescribe or recommend medications for treatment (within protocol guidelines).
• Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling.
• Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality.

Education:

• Graduate from an accredited Advanced Practice Nursing program.

License/Certification:

• Current/valid APN license from the state licensing board.
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification

Experience:

• 1 year previous experience as an NP in an acute care setting or equivalent RN experience.
