Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Lab Assistant, you will receive, process, and prepare patient specimens for analysis, ensuring proper labeling and documentation. You will assist medical technologists with various tasks, maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment.

Every day you will perform clerical duties such as data entry, answering phones, and managing incoming and outgoing lab reports. You will also be responsible for maintaining supply inventory, ordering new materials, and ensuring equipment is functioning correctly.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of specimen handling and laboratory safety protocols. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, collaborating effectively with all lab personnel to support accurate and timely test results.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • WA State Department of Health Medical Assistant - Phlebotomy certification
    • May also require certification of training in Infectious Substance shipping outlined by the Dangerous Goods Regulations
  • Excellent customer service and patient relations skills
  • Knowledge of anatomy, venous systems, proper specimen collection techniques and use of blood tubes
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines and basic medical and laboratory terminology
  • General computer knowledge is needed
