Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Vice President has operational responsibility for Radiology, Laboratory, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Care Services, Pharmacy, Facilities, Security, Environmental Services, Linen, Transportation, BioMed, Food Services, Telecommunication and Hospitality. The VP shall also assist in the development and administration of new programs and procedures with the goal of providing excellent services. Maintain quality in all departments based on established departmental policies and Regulatory Agencies Standards. Perform other dues as assigned.
  • FISCAL PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT
    • Reviews annual operating budget and long range capital expenditures plans for all
      associated operational departments.
    • Ensures the conservative use of physical and financial assets.
    • Monitors financial performance and recommends needed action.
    • Maximizes operational efficiency.
  • VENDOR RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
    • Negotiate agreements with suppliers/vendors and monitor for compliance.
    • Provides leadership and Manage agreements and supervise performance for contracted
      services which include but not limited to Food Services, Environmental Services, Linen,
      Transportation, and any other further assigned contractual relationships.
    • Promotes the image of VMMC by representing the organization in the
      civic and business community.
  • MANAGEMENT OF OPERATIONS
    • Coordinate/Manage the Environment of Care and serve as the Safety Officer.
    • Investigate problems with physicians, patients, nurses, staff, etc; reports same to
      Administration when necessary.
    • Develops, recommends, and supervises the implementation of human resource policies, assuring the selection and employment (and discharge when necessary) of personnel
      according to the approved standard of qualifications.
    • Provides for the proper delegation of authority and responsibility.
    • Recommends changes in organizational arrangements which beer facilitate the
      achievement of organizational objectives.
    • Directs, counsels, and advises leaders in day-to-day operational management, and
      assures any differences that may arise are resolved.
    • Ensures that an adequate organizational structure is in place to accommodate effective
      operations.
    • Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent, appropriate staff at adequate
      staffing levels.
  • LEADERSHIP
    • Pursues personal development.
    • Keeps abreast of all laws and regulations
    • Fosters an environment which respects human dignity, protects human rights, and promotes human development to actualize the values and philosophy of VMMC.
    • Assures all operations activities are directed toward the achievement of the mission and values of the organization.
    • Performs any other duty the may be necessary in the best interest of the organization to provide for quality in patient care and exercises such other powers as determined by the
      Board of Directors or the President/CEO.

 

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Master's Degree in Health Administration or Business Administration. - Preferred
  • Certified in Lean Principles - Preferred

Experience:

  • Five years of healthcare management experience
  • Acute care experience strongly preferred
