Where You’ll Work

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Pharmacy Tech at CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll help our Pharmacists by  safely assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications to help our patients feel better and recover from their illness or injury.

 

You’ll build trust in these interactions by helping fill and distribute medication unit-dose drugs along with performing medication exchange to the the designation nursing units.

 

To excel in this role, you must enjoy learning new concepts and researching information in real-time to provide solutions for real people. You should also continually look for ways to go above and beyond for our patients, delivering an exceptional experience.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, fill and distribute unit-dose drugs and performs medication exchange with nursing units.
  • Will assist in the preparation of sterile intravenous admixtures under pharmacist supervision.
  • Maintains the prescription files, answers phones and triages calls.
  • Maintains adequate levels of drugs and records on the order-book items that fall below minimum level.

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Registered/licensed Pharmacy Tech in the State of NE (https://dhhs.ne.gov/licensure/pages/pharmacy-technician.aspx) required prior to start date.
  • Active CPT-EXCPT or CPT-PTCB or CPHT certification in good standing is required after one year from the registration/licensure date.
