Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Exercise Physiologist at CHI St. Joseph's Health, you will work with clients of various demographics in the community. You'll provide expertise in physical conditioning, reconditioning, risk factor reduction and education through exercise prescription. Exercise physiologists help people maintain fitness and improve their health. They also provide assistance in recovering from injuries and diseases, and coping with disabilities.

Every day you will work with patients to evaluate conditions and expected to evaluate their needs while establishing treatment plans that encompass both fitness and nutritional resources to help them reach their health goals. To be successful in this role you must have a passion for injury prevention and treatment. You'll be working with patients to optimize their health by guiding on how best to maintain overall health.



What you'll do..

  • Supervision of exercise during session in the cardiopulmonary rehab services setting.
  • Be ACLS certified and have an understanding and be able to teach clients about CAD, risk factors, and manage patients in group exercise settings.
  • Supervision and prescription of exercise through classes designed for diverse populations served in the area; including but not limited to chronic disease, bariatric, adolescence and geriatric
  • Understanding of heart rhythms and arrhythmias.
  • Correspondence with patients, families, providers and other medical professionals in regards to patient care and lifestyle change.
  • Be able to prescribe and design exercise programs

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology from accredited university
  • One (1) to three (3) years experience
  • Personal Trainer Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
