Founded in 1887, Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center is a 318-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in downtown Los Angeles, California. Serving over 100,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, heart care, women’s health, and a family birth center. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality care that truly impacts our patients' well-being and recovery.

ASSESSMENT: Completes patient assessments competently. Assesses for and identifies needs of unit-specific patient population: Assesses for and identifies any physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, discharge and cultural needs.
IMPLEMENTATION: Implements interventions based on nursing and medical plan of care. Manages patient population, diagnosis and age specific needs through appropriate adaptation of interventions. Appropriately utilizes equipment and supplies (including following established policies, procedures and protocols governing the transport, handling and storage of intravenous fluids).
EVALUATION: After implementation, reassesses the patient to verify effectiveness of interventions. Updates the plan of care to reflect current care needs.
DECISION MAKING:
Assesses situations and seeks critical information to make decisions. Implements solutions while reviewing and monitoring effects. Re-evaluates decisions and makes corrective actions when indicated. Makes decisions based on evidence based research. Assumes accountability for decisions made.
DIVERSITY & CULTURAL AWARENESS:
Uses knowledge of cultural differences to provide patient care that is sensitive to and consistent with cultural values, beliefs and customs. Provides interpretive services for patients and families. Recognizes and utilizes individual differences, diversity and knowledge of the health care team.
INFORMATION SYSTEMS/DOCUMENTATION:
Documents assessments, plan of care, interventions and reassessments within established timeframes. Documents changes in condition and response to interventions within established timeframes. Documents comprehensive discharge instructions that include diagnosis, home instructions and medications to take. Utilizes electronic documentation system and electronic reporting systems.
Involves patient/family in Shift Bedside Report with oncoming/offgoing nurse. Initiates service recovery when indicated. Uses proper etiquette in person, on the phone & in emails. Assist others by escorting/directing visitors.
