Founded in 1887, Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center is a 318-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in downtown Los Angeles, California. Serving over 100,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, heart care, women’s health, and a family birth center. In 2025, we opened our new patient tower, Grand Tower, featuring a dramatically expanded Emergency Department and Family Birth Center that will increase patient comfort and privacy.

• PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE:
  
  
  Provides effective, comprehensive evidence based nursing care to achieve desired health outcomes. Organizes and prioritizes patient care activities balanced with the needs and comfort of the patient. Collaborates with other disciplines to insure comprehensive, holistic and effective plan of care. Applies knowledge of current practice standards, guidelines, statutes, rules and regulations. Demonstrates accountability for own ethical behavior and supports ethical practice by addressing or escalating issues. Serves as a patient advocate.
  
  

  ASSESSMENT: Completes patient assessments competently. Assesses for and identifies needs of unit-specific patient population: Assesses for and identifies any physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, discharge and cultural needs.

• PLANNING: Completes an individualized plan of care based on assessment of the patient. Coordinates with other disciplines when indicated. Prioritizes care needs and sets measurable goals and time frames. Includes patient and family in the planning.
  
  

  IMPLEMENTATION: Implements interventions based on nursing and medical plan of care. Manages patient population, diagnosis and age specific needs through appropriate adaptation of interventions. Appropriately utilizes equipment and supplies (including following established policies, procedures and protocols governing the transport, handling and storage of intravenous fluids).

  
  
  

  EVALUATION: After implementation, reassesses the patient to verify effectiveness of interventions. Updates the plan of care to reflect current care needs.

Uses SBAR to notify physicians and other providers of clinical findings. Follow policies and procedures for contacting physician regarding critical values. Documents comprehensive discharge instructions that include diagnosis, home instructions and medications to take. Utilizes electronic documentation system and electronic reporting systems.

Takes responsibility and accountability for patient/family satisfaction by using the nursing bundle. Demonstrates AIDET Principles. • High School Graduate General Studies and 1-3 years 1 year acute care experience, upon hire or
• High School GED General Studies and 1-3 years 1 year acute care experience, upon hire and
• Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program, upon hire and
• Fire Safety, within 90 Days
