Where You’ll Work

CHI Mercy Health Valley City, part of CommonSpirit Health, has been a part of the Valley City community since 1928 when it was founded by the Sisters of Mercy. Their vision was to build healthier communities through a healing ministry.  Over the years we’ve progressed to meet the needs of the community. We are always here for you to keep your medical needs close to home and convenient. We are always just down the road and have offered services for decades.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities. Every day you will assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.), develop treatment plans, and conduct evaluations/re-evaluations. You will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document thoroughly, and provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients.

To be successful in this role, you must be flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player.

What you'll do...

  • Work with physicians, physical therapists, speech therapists, and others to evaluate new patients and recommend a plan of care.
  • Provide treatments to patients focusing on increasing range of motion, strengthening, and maintaining balance during daily activities
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and customize it as needed
  • Perform re-evaluation assessments to update progress, status changes, etc.
  • Document all evaluations, treatments, and any changes to the treatment plan
  • Seek help when needed; provide support when others request it - this can include assistance with tasks, advice, mentoring, or help to obtain additional specialty certifications if you’re interested.
  • Maintain a friendly and upbeat attitude to motivate our patients to do their best.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree or Doctorate program in Occupational Therapy approved by an accredited organization.
  • Licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist within the State of North Dakota (ND) or willing to obtain licensure to practice in ND.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience required.
