Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer, you will monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors.

Every day, you will monitor the property by walking and driving around the premises. Your security detail could include guarding facility and unit access points, monitoring surveillance cameras, testing new security technology, and protecting all employees/visitors against acts of violence should they arise.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need the ability to remain calm and take action based on the situation, known facts, and understand the position limitations. You are also expected to respond to emergency codes in a timely manner. Previous experience in security/patrol in a healthcare setting is preferred.

  • Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or emergency codes, and requests for opening doors. Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including of radios and hospital codes
  • Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigates security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports. Ensures that all activities are logged. That incident reports are accurately completed so that they are clear, concise, legible, and submitted promptly.
  • Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the right location.

Job Requirements

  • High School GED General Studies required
  • Six (6) months of experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, Law enforcement, or military service required.
  • One (1) year of experience as a security officer required. 
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) within 90 Days of start date required. 
  • CA Security Guard required. 


Preferred

  • Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO).
