Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Central Services Technician Lead, you will be a vital link in patient care, ensuring the highest quality, sterile instrumentation is always available to medical teams.

You will be responsible for the planning and coordination of the daily sterile processing operations, ensuring the critical standards for quality sterile processing of instrumentation and equipment are met. Conducts staff education and
training to support department efficiency and effectiveness.


To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a rigorous commitment to sterilization protocols, working efficiently and expertly to support optimal outcomes.

  • Leads and coordinates the daily decontamination, assembly, packaging and sterilization of surgical instrument sets and equipment for surgical procedures using appropriate techniques.
  • Responsible for assigning staff to complete equipment rounds on the nursing units as described in policies and procedures.
  • Plans and coordinates daily work schedules and coverage.
  • Responsible for maintaining work schedules and assuring that staffing is adequate for the workload.
  • Conducts orientation and training for new staff members. Conducts continuing staff education and training.
  • Provides input to the Sterile Processing Manager and supports the implementation of identified opportunities for process improvements as well as on-going staff training and development

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate or GED and three years of experience performing sterile processing in a hospital setting.
  • Certified and Registered Central Service Technician, or
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Supervisor, or
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Tech, or
  • Cert Sterile Processing Dist Tech.
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency
  • Broad knowledge of steam and alternate sterilization methods.
  • Completion of the Interaction Management series

  • Previous leadership experience
