Located in the Phoenix, Ariz., suburb of Chandler, the Chandler Regional Medical Center is a 429-bed, not-for-profit hospital with more than 2,600 team members and almost 1,000 doctors on staff representing all major specialties. Chandler Regional joined the Dignity Health system in 1999, but has been part of the community for more than 50 years. The hospital includes a Level I Trauma Center, a Heart and Vascular Center, a Wound Healing Center, a Family Birth Center and many additional services. Dignity Health Chandler Regional, Mercy Gilbert, and Arizona General Hospital Mesa awarded $422,000 in grants to support five community projects led by 15 local organizations. Since 1991, Dignity Health's Community Health Improvement Grants program has provided $91 million to nearly 3,800 health projects, focusing on vulnerable and underserved populations.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Physician Assistant (PA), you will be responsible for providing First Assistant duties to patients during specialized surgical procedures under the direct supervision of a surgeon.

Every day, within this role, you will provide medical services consistent with your education, training, and experience, as delegated by a supervising physician. You will also be responsible for participating in research and outcome tracking and reporting, all in accordance with approved protocols and medical committees.

To be successful in your role, you will meticulously provide First Assistant duties during specialized surgical procedures, working under the direct supervision of a surgeon and within approved protocols. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical proficiency, a deep commitment to patient care, and a proactive approach to participating in research and outcome tracking, ensuring the delivery of high-quality surgical assistance and contributing to continuous improvement in surgical outcomes.

 

Patient care

  •  Provides patients with medical care and treatment at the generally recognized professional level of quality, compassion and efficiency.
  •  Prepares and completes, in a timely and legible fashion, the medical record and other required records for all patients seen in the Urgent Care setting.
  • In partnership with staff physician and nursing staff, develops the plan of care, including the discharge process. Evaluates and modifies the plan of care, based on observable patient responses and attainment of expected outcomes. 
  • Demonstrates a commitment to providing appropriate, high-quality care in an environment where costs are important. Involves the patient in treatment cost decisions where appropriate and possible.
  •  Demonstrates excellent communication skills. Promptly shows courtesy to all customers in greeting and conversations. Seldom holds personal conversation in front of customers. Only urgent personal phone calls interrupt work.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Completion of approved PhysicianAssistant program. and PA Experience in the evaluation andtreatment of acute and chronic medicalconditions and injuries common to patients of all ages (e.g. chest pain, abdominal pain, infections, laceration repair,orthopedic injuries). Experience inutilizing and interpreting common labtests, EKGs and X-ray studies., upon hire and
  • Physician Assistant: AZ, upon hire and
  • Drug Enforcement Administration-Control Sub Reg Cert: AZ, upon hire and
  • American Heart Association
    • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire and
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, upon hire


Preferred

  • 5 + Years of Experience in Urgent Care or EmergencyDepartment and
  • Consideration maybe given to candidates with experience infamily medicine.
