Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Staffing Coordinator, you will be responsible for optimizing staffing levels across departments, ensuring adequate coverage and operational efficiency.

Every day you will schedule personnel, process staffing requests, manage call-outs, and communicate effectively with staff and management regarding assignments and availability.

To be successful, you will demonstrate strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail in scheduling, and excellent communication, crucial for maintaining optimal workforce deployment and service continuity.

  • Performs staffing functions for the nursing departments.



    • Receives 7-3 staffing report from night Patient Care Supervisors.


    • Reviews and plans staffing coverage needs on a daily and weekly basis.


    • Prints daily staffing sheets.


    • Consults with Nursing Directors and /or Patient Care Supervisor regarding any unsolved staffing decisions as appropriate.


    • Assures that staffing sheets are updated from previous shifts on a daily basis.


    • Timely communicates staffing concerns to Nursing Directors, ie. late, sick calls, family emergencies.


    • Documents department worked for staff who floated.


    • Receives sick calls and documents appropriately.


    • Makes staffing adjustments according to guidelines by granting Volunteer off or On Call.


    • Documents schedule changes with approval of manager or supervisor.


    • Posts SOS sheets and follows up scheduling staff.


    • Maintains logs and other documentation as assigned.


  • Provides the coordination of patient placement.



    • Places patients according to patient placement guidelines. (see policies NURS-P2.2 & NURS-P2.4).


    • Maintains ongoing assessment of patient census including admissions and discharges.


    • Coordinates and schedules elective blood transfusions


    • Utilizes admission book for pre-admission CABG patients, blood transfusions, Ped Sedations, Chemo patients and other procedures as needed.


    • Communicates effectively with Admitting, ER, Unit Shift Leaders, PACU, SDCC, OR, CVL, and Physicians.


    • Consults with Manager of Nursing Administration, Nurse Managers and Vice President of Patient Care Services when appropriate.


  • Provides coordination of patient transport.



    • Coordinates and schedules transport in accordance with policies, with attention to restrictions and parameters, such as block scheduling.


    • Coordinates communication between Patient Transporter and Nursing Units to ensure transportation is efficient


    • Ensures that schedule is accurate, reviewed and changes made as needed.


  • Compliance with policy and procedures



    • Complies with safety, infection control, CHW Integrity Program, and other organizational policies (90-day evals- department specific orientation checklists completed; annual evals -annual competency checklists completed).


    • Complies with the organization's dress code.


    • Arrives at work on time, as defined by the Attendance and Timeliness Policy.


    • Attends work consistently, as defined by the Attendance and Timeliness Policy.


  • Other Staff Responsibilities



    • Actively supports the organization's mission, philosophy and strategic plan.


    • Demonstrates good time management and priority setting.


Job Requirements

Required

  • Strong secretarial and /or administrativebackground


Preferred

  • One (1) to two (2) years of previous acute care experience 
  • Previous hospital experience and/or medical terminology
