Dignity Health Medical Group – North State a service of Dignity Health Medical Foundation is a multi-specialty clinic with eleven locations in Redding and Red Bluff. Along with our local affiliated Dignity Health hospitals (Mercy Medical Center – Mt. Shasta Mercy Medical Center – Redding and St. Elizabeth Community Hospital) we offer an integrated care delivery system that provides high quality compassionate care in family medicine, internal medicine, OB/GYN, cardiology, neuro-interventional, general surgery, endovascular surgery, endocrinology, ENT, colorectal surgery, thoracic surgery and orthopedic surgery including general total joints and spine.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer), you will utilize advanced sonographic equipment to record detailed images of blood, organs, tissues, and bodily masses, including unborn fetuses, providing critical visual data for diagnosis and prenatal care.

Every day you will directly interact with patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and preparing them for scans. You will meticulously operate sonographic equipment, adjusting settings and patient positions to ensure clear, diagnostic images. You will monitor and care for patients to ensure their safety and comfort, select and examine images for pathologies, and present preliminary findings to Physicians.

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent patient service and communication skills, sharp eyesight, and meticulous attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong technical proficiency, sound judgment, and advanced decision-making skills to effectively capture and interpret sonographic data, ensuring optimal diagnostic support.

    1. Must be able to perform 10-13 examinations per business day.
    1. Consistently reviews requests for special instructions from physicians on orders and consults with radiologist as needed.
    1. Completely explains examination procedure or instruction to the patient in a pleasant professional manner.
    1. Demonstrates full competence in the use of all equipment and materials used to capture ultra sound images.
    1. Proficient in taking clear images and preparing complete image reports.
    1. Consistently uses proper positioning of area that needs imaging.
    1. Maintain examination rooms. Stock necessary ultrasound supplies.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate General Studies
  • Completion of accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology program
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  • Basic Life Support - CPR


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of one year of Ultrasonography experience
