Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Charge Nurse, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

  • Meets competency criteria 100% for Professional Partner-RN.
  • Assesses utilization of staff on a shift by shift basis, collaborating with staffing office and/or Administrative Supervisor to identify staffing needs of the on-coming shift.
  • Communicates with Charge Nurses or Team Leaders of similar units to provide for redistribution of staff during times of increased workload, as needed.
  • Reviews schedules for accuracy and even distribution of staff as needed.
  • Adjusts staffing as appropriate to maintain budget and provide optimal patient care, justifying variances.
  • facilitates communication with other departments and/or other agencies to secure resources and/or facilitate patient care

Job Requirements

Required

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Labor & Delivery with accurate interpretation of fetal monitor strips. 
  • Registered Nurse: CA
  • Basic Life Support - CPR from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 90 Days

Preferred

  • Bachelors Of Science BSN or equivalent
  • Experience circulating, post-partum and nursery
