Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Transporter, you will provide essential assistance and transportation for patients and related items across our campus, ensuring a highly customer-sensitive and seamless experience.

Every day you will promptly and safely transport inpatients and outpatients to and from various hospital areas. You will meticulously confirm patient identification, greet and assist in transferring patients, and make conscious observations of patient condition during transport, reporting any issues to appropriate personnel. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area and report any malfunctioning equipment.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and exceptional customer service for all individuals within our facility. You will be attentive, observant, and capable of performing duties efficiently while upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism.

  • Professionally and courteously handles patient interactions utilizing the AIDET fundamentals of service and SBAR hand off communication.
  • Transports patients from designated area to scheduled area for transfer, procedure, and/or surgery. Provides appropriate dressing gowns & linen for patient use. Brings the patient chart for procedures requiring its availability. Using SBAR, notifies the clinical staff of potential patient issues prior to the exam.
  • Utilizes effective patient transfer techniques, safe patient handling devices and proper body mechanics when moving patients from the bed to the transport device (gurney or wheelchair) and back again. Completes transportation of the patient in a timely fashion. Provides for emotional and physical needs of the patient during transfer.
  • Assists in preparing the procedure rooms for procedures. Ensures the equipment is clean before bringing patient into the room. Assists the technologists during the imaging procedure by obtaining necessary equipment, documentation and supplies. Helps the technologist in any way needed to expedite delivery of quality patient care.
  • Maintains equipment storage room and equipment. Maintains competence in the operation of equipment as appropriate to scope of practice. Promptly initiates corrective action & reports failures of equipment. Maintains work areas in a neat, orderly and adequately stocked condition. Is competent with the operation of the equipment used.
  • Contributes to department productivity and efficient operations. Communicates with staff and leaders in a professional and respectful manner. Performs all assignments accurately and in a reasonable time frame. Recognizes when others need assistance and consistently offers to help when work load permits.

  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire. We accept the American Heart Association

Preferred

  • High School Graduate or GED and Experience in the medical office or hospital environment, upon hire or
  • Experience with computers
  • Experience with safe patient handling devices
