Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse at Chandler Regional Medical Center, you will take a leadership role in assessing patient/family health problems and resources, and developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive nursing care plans. This position provides professional nursing care and interventions to acutely ill patient populations across all ages, from infancy to later life/geriatric, within our dynamic Perioperative department. 

 

Every day you will go over consent forms, answer questions about the procedure, do preoperative assessments, and prepare patients for various surgical procedures. You will serve as a patient advocate through holistic care practices, recognizing and adapting swiftly to changes in patient conditions (e.g., abnormal lab results, vital signs) in a timely and clinically appropriate manner. Utilizing the SBAR format for physician notification and performing bedside nurse-to-nurse reports are critical daily functions. 

 

To be successful in this role, you will be a possess a knowledge of surgical procedures and a critical care background. Along with excellent written and interpersonal communication skill and basic computer skills. Your capacity to engage and motivate others, manage change, assume accountability for decisions, and effectively utilize resources will be crucial in this dynamic PACU Nurse role, where call is required and is based on shift and patient volume.  

 

  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures
  • Administer medications as directed by physician
  • Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
  • Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients  
  • Organizes and prioritizes patient care activities balanced with the needs and comfort of the patient

Job Requirements

Required

  • One (1) year RN experience within Critical Care (ICU, Telemetry, ER)
  • AZ RN license or RN license from a Compact State
  • Current American Heart Association BLS 
  • American Heart Association ACLS, within 30 days
  • American Heart Association PALS, within 6 months

Preferred

  • Strong cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring skills
  • BSN
  • One (1) year post anesthesia care experience
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, critical care (surgical) background, pediatric experience helpful
