Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Specimen Management Coordinator, you will assume responsibility for the smooth functioning and workflow of the phlebotomy lab central processing department. Every day you will serve as a resource to the team. To be successful in this role, you will assist the department supervisor in training and monitoring of workflow and function as the team lead and resource for problem resolution. 

  • Monitors department workflow, balances workload, and assists with staff dispatching and training
  • Ensures accurate patient identification and performs phlebotomy adhering to all procedures
  • Troubleshoots and reconciles specimen ordering and processing issues
  • Monitors send-out processing, pending lists, and resolves overdue results
  • Utilizes effective communication techniques within and across shifts
  • Supports quality monitoring and improvement initiatives within the lab and other departments

Job Requirements

Required

 

  • 3 years phlebotomy experience
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to complete all duties required of a PTA including charting and documentation 



Preferred

 

  • Lab Assistant Program certification
  • Phlebotomy certificate
