Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Oncology Clinic RN, you will deliver specialized, direct patient care to adult, oncology, and hematology patients. This role is crucial for patient safety and compliance, requiring you to apply critical thinking and clinical judgment to make autonomous patient care decisions within your scope of practice, especially in the absence of a physician. You'll be a key part of our compassionate care team, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and providing vital education to patients and their families.


Every day you will expertly administer a range of medications, including chemotherapy, topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, and intravenously, while meticulously documenting all care. You'll apply your knowledge of current cancer treatment modalities, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, safety, and regulatory standards. Additionally, you will demonstrate cultural sensitivity, effective communication, and contribute to the continuous professional growth and development of your team, upholding the highest standards of care.


To be successful in this role, you will need to be a Registered Nurse (RN) in WA, and ideally hold an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) credential. You should have a nursing diploma, associate's, or bachelor's degree, with a preference for oncology experience. We are looking for a professional who demonstrates self-accountability, excellent communication skills for diverse patient populations, and the ability to manage a busy caseload effectively while maintaining a high standard of patient care.

 

  • Administers, oversees and documents the administration of medications (e.g., topically, orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously and intravenously) as ordered by the healthcare practitioner and in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Administers chemotherapy.
  • Applies knowledge of current cancer treatment modalities to patient care.
  • Adheres to the department’s and hospital’s policies and procedures, including safety, risk management and regulatory standards. Keeps abreast of trends, developments and regulatory requirements impacting matters within designated scope of responsibility.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Competence: Demonstrates proper use of available communication tools/materials for effective communication and understands how the culture(s) of patient populations can affect communication, collaboration and the provision of care, treatment and services. Patient Populations Served: Demonstrates knowledge and proper skills associated with the department’s defined specific populations served.
  • Demonstrates competent professional practice and engages in opportunities for professional growth. Demonstrates self-accountability to meet stated deadlines for all mandatory requirements.
