Security Officer

Founded in 1926, Dignity Health - Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center is a 334-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital. Serving over 70,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level III NICU, heart care, wound care and surgical services. As our Security Officer, you will maintain the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas, diligently deterring, detecting, and investigating suspicious activity or crime.

Every day you will effectively monitor electronic surveillance equipment and hospital emergency systems, dispatch appropriate personnel via radio, and actively patrol to protect individuals and property, all while embodying our core values and supporting strategic quality improvement.

• Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors. Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including of radios and hospital codes
• Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports. Ensures that all activities are logged. That incident reports are accurately completed that they are clear, concise, legible and submitted in a timely manner.
• Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to right location.
• Keeping the organization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront of all decision making and action.

Required: 

• High School GED General Studies required
• Six (6) months of experience as a security officer in a healthcare setting, Law enforcement, or military service required or
• One (1) year of experience as a security officer required. 
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) within 90 Days of start date required. 
• CA Security Guard required. 

Preferred

• Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO).
