Where You’ll Work

CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake is a 25 bed critical access hospital with a Level V Emergency Department that is available 24 hours a day. Our hospital has been committed to providing patients quality medical treatment in the Turtle Lake area and surrounding communities since 1952. Through the years, the hospital has sought to continually upgrade the quality and numbers of services it provides. The hospital's affiliation with major medical centers and health care agencies has allowed it to expand its health care services through a network that begins at the local level. CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake is equipped with 2 emergency rooms, on-site lab, radiology, CT and physical therapy services. Our patients have access to 24/7 emergency care, swing-bed programs, and acute care services.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Nutrition Assistant, you will assist in delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient food services to patients and staff. Every day you will prepare and deliver meal trays, assist with food preparation, maintain cleanliness, ensure food safety compliance, and interact with patients regarding dietary needs. To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong food safety knowledge, and excellent customer service, contributing to a positive dining experience.

Job Requirements

  • Efficient Workflow & Timeliness: Organizes and prioritizes daily tasks to ensure efficient completion, consistently finishing all duties before the end of the shift
  • Inventory Management & Presentation: Maintains stock levels for containers, groceries, and dining room items, while also ensuring proper care of plastic containers
  • Food Preparation & Safety: Prepares high-quality food items accurately, following diet orders, nourishment lists, and client requests, with proper handling, holding, and portion control
  • Service & Support: Transports food carts, assists with tray preparation, accurately stocks nourishment centers, and maintains cleanliness of work areas, including assisting the Cook as needed
  • Safety & Sanitation: Adheres to safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper equipment care, cleaning, wearing protective equipment, and reporting maintenance issues or unsafe conditions
  • Adaptability & Work Ethic: Demonstrates the ability to manage increased workloads, takes on additional tasks, and shows flexibility with work schedules and extra hours when required
