Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Patient Access Representative, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patient registration, managing demographic and insurance data across various hospital access points to ensure accurate record-keeping.

 

Every day, you will utilize multiple complex systems to document patient information, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and support high-volume workflows to maintain seamless hospital operations.

 

To be successful in this role, you will collaborate effectively with the healthcare team and provide compassionate, compliant service to patients and families while upholding the organization’s core mission and values.

  • Receives inbound calls and fax requests, processes scheduling requests, and performs outbound calls to coordinate patient appointments.
  • Maintains scheduling systems to ensure accuracy, resolve conflicts, and optimize use of available resources.
  • Obtains and verifies all required patient, clinical, and insurance information necessary to schedule complex services.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and identifies authorization, referral, and payer‑specific requirements required for scheduling.
  • Applies sound judgment when scheduling services that require sequencing, extended time, or coordination of multiple components.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • A miminum of three (3) years previous Patient Scheduling or Patient Access experience
  • Experience in a hospital environment, medical terminology, knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 codes, ability to multitask and prioritization skills.
