Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Lead Teacher, supported by Assistant Teachers, works with the leadership of the childcare and early childhood education programs of CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health to foster a positive and inclusive childcare environment that encourages developmentally appropriate learning, exploration and discovery for children and their families. The Lead Teacher plans, organizes and implements an appropriate instructional program at the St. John Neumann School for Children and Families that guides and encourages children to develop and fulfill their potential while engaging the family as an essential element in the success and development of every child.

  • Plans, prepares and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning consistent with the philosophies and objectives of the St. John Neumann School for Children and Families.
  • Develops lesson plans, special activities and student assessments that are in accordance with established procedures.
  • Greeting parents, children, and other staff members.
  • Maintaining positive interactions with parents, children, and other staff members
  • Demonstrates preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourages parent and community involvement
