Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Infection Prevention Specialist at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson, you will help clinical teams and hospital leadership manage surveillance, education, and performance improvement initiatives so they can ensure the safety of patients, personnel, and visitors through the prevention of disease transmission.

 

Every day you will conduct unit rounds, monitor for healthcare-acquired infections, and provide expert clinical guidance on infection control protocols. You will be expected to oversee department operations, ensure compliance with CMS and accreditation standards, and coordinate staff training programs.

 

To be successful in this role, you must possess deep expertise in APIC-aligned infection prevention practices, have a proven track record of interpreting regulatory guidelines, and demonstrate the ability to lead and mentor clinical staff.

  • Surveillance & Compliance Oversight: Lead the facility’s infection prevention surveillance efforts, ensuring full adherence to CMS, state, and Hospital Accreditation standards through regular rounding and gap analysis.
  • Clinical Leadership & Education: Serve as the subject matter expert for infection control, identifying staff training needs, overseeing departmental workflows, and developing educational programs for all facility personnel.
  • Policy Development & Program Management: Collaborate with department leadership to implement evidence-based policies and update the Infection Prevention Program in alignment with the latest APIC guidelines and national standards.
  • Performance Improvement: Analyze infection data to identify trends, mitigate risks, and implement targeted interventions that protect patients, visitors, and staff from healthcare-acquired infections.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelors, with a focus on epidemiology, upon hire. 
  • OR Associates in a healthcare-related field, upon hire.
  • AND three (3) years of healthcare-related experience.
  • Certified in Infection Control (CIC),within 24 - months of start.
