Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Research Technician, you will perform standard laboratory procedures with some independence, under the general supervision of a PI or Research Technician. Your contributions are vital for efficient lab operations. Your time will be split between daily preclinical and routine lab work focused on thoracic research. Your contributions are vital for efficient day-to-day lab operations and data collection.

Every day you will execute experimental protocols, collect/record data, and maintain lab equipment. You may also perform complex procedures and provide guidance to students.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong foundation in lab techniques, meticulous attention to detail, and work effectively independently and collaboratively. Reliability, safety adherence, and a willingness to learn are key.

  • Maintains accurate detailed records of preclinical models health logs and test results.
  • Uses computer databases for data entry sample logging and tracking.
  • Adheres to all safety practices regarding biohazards chemicals
  • Attends all required safety training and lab meetings.
  • Learns new specialized laboratory techniques under the guidance of a faculty mentor.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science field (such as Biology Animal Science or a related discipline)
  • Two (2) years prior experience in a research, clinical, or other scientific environment
  • Hands-on experience in a research laboratory setting.
  • Comfortable with and willing to work with preclinical models.


Preferred

  • Four (4) years of prior experience in a research, clinical, or other scientific environment
  • Basic exposure to or knowledge of running PCR or Western blots.
  • Specific experience processing blood and tissue (using centrifuges separating plasma etc.).
  • Prior experience with preclinical models.
  • Learns new specialized laboratory techniques under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
