Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Case Cart Specialist, you will support the perioperative services department by managing and coordinating supplies and instrumentation, ensuring seamless operations for surgical procedures.

Every day you will liaise between the Operating Room, Sterile Processing, and Supply Chain to ensure instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and appropriately stored. You will also assist in maintaining cleanliness, perform routine duties, help with patient care, open sterile supplies, transport equipment, and prepare case supplies.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail in inventory and equipment management, the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, and a commitment to ensuring all necessary resources are ready for surgical teams.

  • Responsible for room turnovers, case cart distribution and transport, and instrument setup needs for the operating room surgical cases.
  • Gathers and assembles instruments and equipment for scheduled procedures, ensuring proper instruments have been picked for the cases.
  • Obtains additional/missing items needed, preventing case delays, and assists in arranging and tracking borrowed or loaned instrumentation/equipment, communicating to appropriate leadership.
  • Uses physician preference cards to identify supplies and equipment needed for scheduled surgical or emergency procedures, and updates preference cards with any necessary changes.
  • Reviews scheduled surgical procedures and anticipates issues, needs of the team, and schedules that will require followup, discussing these with department leadership and the Circulator in the room.
  • Prepares the operating room and supplies for procedures with knowledge of aseptic technique.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of experience in a surgical and/or sterile processing setting
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments

Preferred

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
