Founded in 1887, Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center is a 318-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in downtown Los Angeles, California. Serving over 100,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, heart care, women’s health, and a family birth center. As our Sterile Processing Tech, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuous availability of sterile, high-quality materials and equipment essential for patient care, consistently upholding our organizational vision and values.

Every day you will perform a variety of tasks under the general supervision of the Director of Surgical Services, focusing on the meticulous decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of purchased and reprocessed materials and equipment. Your work will directly support the hospital and affiliated facilities, ensuring a safe and quality product for patient care.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a high level of precision and adherence to established procedures, ensuring customer satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner, while actively contributing to our organization's commitment to quality patient care.

• Demonstrate an independent function in ensuring that soiled instrumentation or equipment delivered to the department is decontaminated in a manner that prevents cross contamination.
• Demonstrate an independent function in ensuring that the equipment distributed from the Sterile Processing Department is in appropriate working order for utilization in direct patient care.
• Demonstrate independent function in ensuring a sterile product by professional assembly of surgical items, instrument sets, floor trays and appropriate packaging in preparation for terminal sterilization.
• Demonstrate independent function in ensuring that sterility is achieved utilizing the sterilization process either steam, and sterrad. Demonstrate when to use each process.
• Demonstrate independent function in performing in the following areas of the surgical case setup process: Assembly/Packaging/Wrapping - Orthopedics; Assembly/Packaging/Wrapping - ENT/Plastic/Ophthalmology; Assembly/Packaging/Wrapping - General Surgery; Assembly/Packaging/Wrapping - GYN/GU/Cardiothoracic; Assembly/Packaging/Wrapping - Neuro/Vascular.

Required

• Fire Safety, within 90 Days
• High School Graduate or GED
• Three or more years Sterile Processingknowledge of surgical instrumentation. To perform successfully, an individual  must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
• Certified and Registered Central Service Technician or
• Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Supervisor or
• Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Tech
