Good Samaritan has been a leader in cardiac and vascular care since opening Nebraska's first outstate cardiac catheterization lab in 1990. We offer a comprehensive range of cardiac and vascular procedures. Our commitment to innovation and patient quality continues with the region's first Hybrid Cardiovascular Operating Room, which uniquely combines the advanced diagnostic imaging of a cath lab with the full surgical capabilities of a traditional operating room.

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

As our Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) Registered Nurse you will provide high-level nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures.

Every day, you will be a part of a specialized multidisciplinary team, utilizing advanced clinical knowledge and technical skills to monitor patient hemodynamic status, and assist with procedural interventions.

• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, verify informed consent, review lab results/medications, and prepare the patient for procedures.
• Assist the interventional cardiologist/radiologist during procedures. Continuously monitor and interpret EKG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and invasive hemodynamic pressures 
•  Respond immediately to patient complications. Proficiently operate emergency equipment including crash carts, defibrillators, and temporary pacemakers.
• Administer procedural sedation, antiplatelet therapy, anticoagulants, and other cardiac medications per physician orders, monitoring for adverse reactions.
• Manage arterial/venous sheath removal, ensure adequate hemostasis at the access site, and provide patient education regarding post-procedure restrictions and discharge instructions.
• Maintain precise, real-time documentation and ensure all procedural supplies are stocked and equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.

Required

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 5 months of hire
