As our Financial Counselor, you will help patients understand and manage their financial responsibility by administering our hospital financial assistance programs.

Every day you will counsel insured and uninsured patients, estimate patient liability, support point-of-service and pre-discharge collections, and set up payment plans according to policy. You will identify all potential payers, including auto insurance, workers' compensation, commercial and private insurance, third-party liability, and government programs, and act as a liaison between patients, physicians, patient access teams, and outside agencies. You will complete, submit, and follow up on financial assistance and charity applications, maintain accurate documentation, and escalate approvals or exceptions as needed.

To be successful in this role, you will bring knowledge of insurance and financial assistance programs, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate approach to sensitive financial conversations.

• Counsel insured and uninsured patients regarding financial responsibility, estimated patient liability, and available financial assistance or payment options.
• Screens patients for eligibility for hospital financial assistance, charity care, foundation programs, and other programs.
• Complete, submit, and follow up on charity care and financial assistance applications to ensure timely eligibility determinations.
• Collect patient portions as applicable and assist patients with establishing approved payment plans in accordance with hospital policies.
• Coordinate with leadership as required for approval of payment plans or settlements based on established approval guidelines.
• Perform account adjustments or write‑offs in accordance with hospital financial assistance policies as deemed necessary

Required

• High School Graduate , upon hire 

Preferred

• Preferred 2 years of health care experience.
