Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nurse Practitioner, in collaboration with the physician/medical director, you will assume clinical responsibility for tasks performed within your scope of practice. This includes taking patient's history, performing physical examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, establishing diagnosis, and providing care and management for common illnesses and disease prevention.

Every day, you may assist with patient admission, transfer, or discharge. You will make appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies, and participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop patient-centered plans. In addition to routine duties, you will provide care and management for acutely ill patients, respond to emergency situations, and may see patients in intensive care units or other high-acuity settings.

To be successful in your role, you will strategically deliver comprehensive, specialized patient care, assuming clinical responsibility for assessing, diagnosing, and managing common illnesses and acute conditions, often in critical care settings. You will demonstrate exceptional clinical expertise in performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, and collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team to develop patient-centered plans, while actively participating in quality assurance and ensuring appropriate referrals and care management.

  • Clinician
    Provides immediate intervention to patients in distress
    Assess and correctly interpret clinical changes in the acute care areas
    Performs patient evaluations, reviews pre-op teaching, orders appropriate diagnostic test, recommends therapeutic intervention and counsels patients and families
    Performs discharge summaries, consultations in timely manner
  • Consultant
    Collaborates with appropriate physicians, residents, ancillary and nursing staff to provide other appropriate direct care interventions within scope of practice.
    Assists in coordination of hospital care and patient procedures
  • Educator
    Provides education to patients, families, community, and colleagues using various teaching strategies.
    Utilizes special educational methods that are age appropriate.
  • Administrator
    Maintains accurate documentation in the medical record including problem list and charges for services and gives patient care direction to nursing and other staff.
    Actively participates in in various professional development opportunities such as evidenced by formal presentations and publications. Participates in hospital-wide allied health cmte initiatives or other cmtes as appropriate . Attends weekly med teach specialty conferences. Participates in clinical research activities within dept.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Masters of Nursing, Graduate of accredited program for Nurse Practitioners
  • Three (3) years clinical experience in area of specialty
  • Registered Nurse: AZ
  • Registered Nurse Practitioner: AZ
  • Drug Enforcement Administration-Control Sub Reg Cert: AZ
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner ACNPC or
  • Nurse Practitioner - AANPCP or
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner - BC
