Position Summary:   The CAO is responsible for MMG’s financial management, business and administrative operations. As the chief administrative executive, the CAO: designs, implements and monitors all business and administrative operations for MMG; support governance functions; and creates and/or implements strategy for organizational effectiveness. The CAO will regularly communicate and coordinate with MMG’s senior management team, MMG's Board of Directors, Dignity Health Medical Foundation leadership, DHMF management and non-management staff, MMG physicians, APP’s and physician leaders.    The CAO communicates and maintains relationships with the DHMF Leadership teams in matters of business operations and strategic planning. An important aspect of this position is collaboratively working with MMG, DHMF and Dignity Health leadership teams to improve consistency, improve performance (Finance, Patient experience, clinical professional experience), and promote and improve our integrated approach to healthcare delivery.    Initial Expectations: - Build and maintain collaborative work environments across departments (Physician support services, DHMF HR, Physician/APP compensation, DHMF coding/billing, Marketing/communications) of the Medical Group and Medical Foundation. - Collaborate with MMG Finance Director, DHMF finance, DHMF Physician compensation and be proficient in budgeting, analyzing, forecasting and reconciling – expense vs revenues - Develop an in depth understanding of all potential incentive revenue sources and develop, implement and maintain systems to track, trend and grow incentive revenue. - Assess and become well versed in MMG financial reporting mechanisms, tax rules and legal regulations pertaining to MMG, Inc.  - Collaborate with MMG Data Science Director to refine and improve analytics and reporting functions. - Review support available from DHMF, identify resources, and refine DHMF/MMG structure to best serve the needs of the medical group. - Develop and maintain highly effective professional talent management system. - Review and improve upon existing communication vehicles for disseminating information to physicians, staff and other key stakeholders. Scope of Responsibilities: - Plan, oversee and optimize business and administrative operations (ie. Physician services, DHMF HR, Physician/APP compensation, DHMF coding/billing, Marketing/communications, MMG Data science and analytics, MMG Value based operations) to ensure organizational effectiveness. Serve as internal consultant to MMG’s Medical Group President, CEO, Board of Directors, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer and Chief of Quality and Value Operations. - In collaboration with the medical group's senior leadership team ensure clinical and business integration. - Bring forward issues and recommendations relating to the group's strategic plan, annual operating calendar, annual goals, revenue projections and budget. - Support senior leadership and the Board through the negotiation of the Professional Service Agreements with DHMF. - Identify opportunities to further integrate medical group operations, DHMF/MMG clinical operations, DHMF support systems, and maintain our culture/MMG way. - Generate unique and progressive ideas and develop new and improved approaches, systems or processes in a visionary way to champion change. - Develop and execute tactical plans to advance strategy. - Serve as a liaison between professional administrative support, physician leadership and administration and oversee medical group support functions provided by DHMF and actively collaborate with CEO/CMO, i.e. HR, risk management, quality improvement, recruitment, credentialing, etc. - Ensure decision support and benchmarking data is accurate; research "best practices" related to effective medical group administration. Reporting Relationships:   The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) reports to the CEO of the medical group and is a member of Mercy Medical Group (MMG) Management team. The CAO works closely with MMG leadership to secure support and resources critical to the administrative operations of the Medical Group.
