This senior level clinical leader will serve as a champion for transfer center initiatives and as a bridge between clinical and administrative leadership, fostering coordination, alignment and shared accountability for access-related goals and promoting network integrity to ensure “radically convenient,” friction-free patient transfers within, and/or out of the MercyOne system.   The selected candidate will support the successful implementation of MercyOne’s Transfer System, ensuring a seamless experience for patients and physicians. The medical director will participate in the development of MercyOne’s clinical acceptance protocols and escalation policies, as well as the dedicated “quarterback” physician acceptance model, to ensure a standardized, streamlined process and timely responses to transfer requests.   The medical director will serve as a liaison to MercyOne employed and non-employed physician groups, as well as referring physicians, to gather feedback and provide education on the new transfer model. In addition, this individual will support the development of a closed-loop communication process to referring providers for patient status updates.   The selected candidate will lead MercyOne’s quality review committee to ensure the highest degree of patient safety and continual process improvement during the transfer process. This individual will maintain a global view of capacity and services available across MercyOne, regularly sharing educational updates on MercyOne services and capabilities with internal and external physicians to promote awareness.
