Our more experienced Pharmacy Techs have advanced skills allowing them to complete some pretty rigorous tasks.  While they still work with the Pharmacist to support the medication management of our patients, they also assist the Pharmacist in the operations related to Compounding intravenous admixtures for patients.  This includes managing IV room and compounding equipment and controlled environments.  Pharmacy preparation of IV medications is high risk because of the irretrievability and the extended beyond-use dating, which exponentially increases the potential to introduce contaminants and cause life-threatening infections in patients.  If you are a detail oriented Pharmacy Tech, we want to talk to you.
