The new St. Michael’s critical care units utilize GE monitors and have brand new hillrom beds. Many of our rooms have ceiling lifts. Our teams are supported by respiratory therapy, physical and occupational therapy, pharmacy on the units, case management on the units, and a team of engaged physicians. Come join our amazing critical care team.     Job Summary: This 32 bed telemetry monitored unit houses PCU level of care with some medical/telemetry overflow as well. This is our primary stroke unit that also manages respiratory and cardiac patients. We offer care for medical patients, infectious diseases, pulmonary, GI, non-invasive treatments and a variety of other diagnoses.  All rooms are private with their own restrooms, supply cabinets as well as couches and privacy curtains for the comfort of family who wish to stay close.  We have two rooms fully plumed to handle dialysis patients.  Computers are also located in each patient room to facilitate bedside documentation and medication verification.  We utilize Epic as our electronic health record. Services provided include vasoactive medication drips and care to higher acuity-level patients.     Staffing The management structure of the unit consists of an experienced Clinical Manager who will oversee the unit. The Charge Nurses provide additional clinical support for the staff and help to maintain the flow of the unit.  The staff is comprised of RNs, Certified Nursing Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators with support services provided by Respiratory Care, 24 hour Pharmacists, PT/OT, IV Therapy RNs, Dieticians and RN Care Managers.  RN assignments are determined by patient census and acuity and our normal RN ratios for med-surg patients are 1:5 with CNA support.
