The receptionist/Scheduler serves patients by greeting and helping them, and is responsible for basic clerical tasks such as answering the phones, triaging calls, scheduling appointments in a professional and timely manner. Works with the department teams to assure quality care to our patients.
- Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors, in person or over the phones
- Answers the phones while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette
- Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized
- Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting patient detailed patient information including personal and financial information, and following all guidelines for meaningful use.
- Facilitates patient flow by notifying staff of patients arrivals, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff
- Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records utilizing OEHR
- Responds to patients, prospective patients, and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner
- Keeps medical office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs, placing orders, and monitoring office equipment
- Protects patient confidentiality of personal and financial information by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended
- Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Franciscan Medical Group is currently seeking a full time Referral Coordinator for our Franciscan Medical Clinic - St. Joseph in Tacoma, WA. This position is Monday through Friday with no weekends, nights or organizationally recognized holidays required.
Job Summary:
Works with patients requiring a referral to ensure the patient’s referral needs are fulfilled. Incumbent obtains and processes all referrals, authorizations and pre-certifications for patients requiring ancillary testing and/or surgical procedures to ensure timely reimbursement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Administers nursing care to patients; includes assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the patient’s care plan in coordination with the physician.
- Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional and environmental health problems.
