Job Summary: In this role, you will provide spiritual care to patients, families, and staff. Essential Duties Include:
- Delivering direct spiritual care that is appropriate for the recipient’s spirituality, culture, religious preference and health status;
- Working closely with care managers, interdisciplinary care teams, social workers, nursing and medical staff to provide spiritual care insights;
- Completing required documentation;
- Providing direct spiritual consultation and spiritual and emotional support for staff experiencing work-related or personal stress, including being available for private conversations while respecting work schedules and locating private space for counseling;
- Collaborating with Clinical Pastoral Education students, volunteers, and local clergy to extend spiritual care services;
- Providing education and ethical consultation for patients, family, staff and volunteers; and

1. Provide leadership in implementing programs sponsored by hospital departments, e.g. NEO, Adult Formation, etc.
2. Provide spiritual assessment and pastoral care in assigned areas to patients, families and staff
3. Interact with the patient care teams on assigned units assigned and other areas of responsibility. Communicate relevant patient information to other team members through appropriate use of charting. Respect patient confidentiality
4. Promote and participate in an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care
5. Design and conduct a variety of spiritual experiences throughout the hospital and opportunities for multi-faith prayer, worship and rituals
6. Support the work of the System in the greater community
Under the supervision of the CHI Health at Home agency Director, the Hospice Chaplain is responsible for providing spiritual/bereavement care and counseling to Hospice patients, families, staff and volunteers.
