Franciscan Medical Group is currently seeking a PER DIEM Multidisciplinary Technologist for our Franciscan Occupational Health at the Port Clinic in Tacoma, WA.    Job Summary: This job is responsible for preparing and operating radiographic imaging equipment to perform patient exams and related procedures that safely capture specific, clear and undistorted images to aid in patient diagnosis.  Work is performed in accordance with physician orders and under strict safety/regulatory/license departmental standards and protocols.  An incumbent also performs basic patient care/support functions under the direction of a provider and within scope of licensure, including obtaining/recording vital signs/patient information and performing point-of-care testing procedures. Education - Provides education for students, patients, self and others appropriate for the age that is being served.  Correlates clinical education with the didactic component. - Instructs, coordinates and evaluates the effectiveness of the student’s clinical education. - Provides clinical supervision for student Radiographers. - Pursues educational self-development in order to maintain ARRT certification. - Completes mandatory in-services. - Maintains CPR certification according to Health Care Provider course standards by the American Heart Association. - Attends school faculty meetings or monthly department meetings. - Is available to students for weekly scheduled clinical practiums and assists students in exams required to complete clinical objectives. - Utilizes a variety of teaching methods appropriate for the targeted domain of learning. - Participates in student selection process. - Participates in department Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.   Environment - Maintains a safe environment for patients, self and others. - Ensure that all radiation safety standards are met for all age groups. - Documents patient pregnancy statements. - Notifies attending physician immediately if patient is pregnant or suspects pregnancy before performing the procedure. - Modifies the procedure for pregnant patients as directed by physician using the Radiology Safety Manual Guidelines to include the use of: - Lead shielding. - Performing different or fewer images that still support the patient plan of care. - Avoid any mechanical, biological, radiation or electrical hazard and report potential hazards immediately. - Minimizes patient radiation exposure by proper procedure performance and avoiding repeat radiographs.

The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist is required to perform invasive and non-invasive procedures on a variety of patients. The Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist is required to utilize sterile techniques, if necessary, operate complex imaging equipment and assist physicians as necessary throughout the CHI St Vincent Health System. Continuing education, learned skills and experience will be utilized. This position will function without constant supervision to produce superior quality imaging studies. The Multi-Modality Technologist must routinely work within a minimum of two qualifying modalities as directed by department managers/supervisors to meet the specific needs of the departments and be licensed in all disciplines in which they perform exams. This includes Diagnostic Fluoroscopy, CT, MRI, and Ultrasound.
